Clive Roberts worked as the lead developer on a VB6 project to deliver a front-end application to Local Government. Councillors used the application during their `surgeries` with the public to record details of the meetings, take actions including diary integration. Based on the outcome of these actions the application would integrate seamlessly with Office XP generating letters, faxes and emails based on standardised templates. The application had to be secure and ensure that the confidential material contained was stored and processed in a secure manner.
This application had to be `self-teaching` and include help and advice tips so that any councillor or local government worker could walk up and use the application with no training.

When you are looking for a dial up ISP, you will be seeking a service provider that offers the slowest transmission speed of data as opposed to ISDN, DSL or cable connections. Your dial up ISP will help you connect a device to a network via a modem and a public telephone line. Basically, through dial up ISP you will use your regular telephone line to communicate between remote computers. However, due to data transmission going through your regular telephone lines, the quality of the connection is not always good and data rate is limited. All that your dial up ISP offers is not bad. With options like ?pay as you go` or monthly pay, instant signup facility, easy online administration, free dial-up internet account, free email address and free web mail, some or all are part of the package that you get when you sign up for a dial up connection. Also, options like, auto forwarding, self administered webspace, domain repointing, etc. are all free and part of the package deal that your dial up ISP will offer. With your dial up connection, there will be no monthly fee. Also, local call rates apply with charges as little as 1p per minute. You can have a 56k modem or you can choose from a 64 or 128k ISDN as per your liking. Domain names, Windows and Linux Hosting packages, Access, MySQL as well as others that you can ask your Internet Service Provider for further details, come with your dial up connection. With automatic Windows configuration as well as support on both Window and MAC environments, plus free technical support via email and a 24-hour telephone technical support, you have feasible and worthwhile dial up connections. These are fine for people who are not fussy about data transmission speed. All these benefits can only be enjoyed if your choice of dial up ISP has a good standing with its customers.
